Students of all ages exploring some of the new activities in our library centers. Centers give students an opportunity to learn in a new, exciting, and hands-on way. They bring STEAM curriculum into the library! Pictured centers include Lego ABC, iPod, and eReaders. Stay tuned to see more of our fun and unique centers!

Second and third grade students hard at work in groups on their library lessons. This week, we’re working with biographies, dictionary skills, and Destiny Quest – oh my!

Kindergarten and first grade students kick off our Picture Book Month celebration with Eric Carle’s classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We read the story, held a reader’s theater, played Storytime Beach Ball, and even illustrated our own Hungry Caterpillar pages. I can’t wait to see what classic picture book joins our celebration next week!

Hard working students are begining to step BEHIND the desk and really get hands-on with library circulation! In these photos, student volunteers help to check returning books in, which is an integral part of the check-in process. Other volunteers help to alphabetize books that have been returned for easier shelving, and then hand them off to shelving volunteers. This library runs like a well-oiled machine – I have some great librarians-in-training to work with!

This morning, Muffins with Moms took over the Johnson cafeteria. Attendees got to enjoy their fill of fruit, juice, and baked goods, and everyone took home a free book! Much like Donuts with Dads, this event was a HUGE success – with a crowded cafeteria, lots of sticky little fingers, and tons of great family reading time. Thank you to our hard working Reading Team for putting together such a fantastic before-school event!
